Review : Rene Furterer Acanthe Curl Enhancing Leave-In Fluid

Product Description
Rene Furterer Acanthe Perfect Curls Curl Enhancing Leave-In Fluid is an award-winning formula to bring the best out of your curls. The frizz-eliminating, volume-inducing fluid instantly defines and shapes your curls, while boosting your bounce. Natural acanthus extract helps create the ideal curls as avocado oil hydrates and an anti-humidity agent controls frizz. Features a fig, plum, jasmine and rose scent.

Earlier this month, I have reviewed the shampoo and conditioner in the same range and today's review is on its leave-in fluid. Compared to its shampoo and conditioner, I actually quite prefer this leave-in fluid even though I still did not like the scent, similarly to its shampoo and conditioner in the same range.
Receiving Allure Best of Beauty 2010, its easy to to understand why.

Key Ingredients
Acanthus extract : defines and softens
Avocado oil and silicone complex : hydrate and provide shine

The white cream looks heavy but its actually lightweight yet moisturising enough for my curls and damaged ends. Once applied, I do feel that the frizziness have become lesser and it maintained well throughout the day. I won't say that all the frizz have totally disappeared but at this point its good enough for me as I am not one of those who places frizziness at the top of my hair concerns.
I like it that it defines my curls with a slight tousled look, without meaning to. Totally natural.

Ingredients :
Water (Aqua), Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Acanthus Mollis Leaf Extract, Amodimethicone, BHT, Butylparaben, Cetearyl Glucoside, Cetrimonium Chloride, Disodium EDTA, Ethylparaben, Fragrance (Parfum), Inulin Lauryl Carbamate, Isobutylparaben, Maltodextrin, Methylparaben, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil (Persea Gratissima Oil), Phenoxyethanol, Polyquaternium-37, Polyquaternium-68, Propylparaben, Trideceth-12.

Review : Biotherm Aquasource 24h Deep Hydration Replenishing Gel

Product Description
Hydration 5 layers deep for long lasting comfort. Skin is hydrated for up to 24 hours, has a healthy radiance, feels plump and silky. 24h deep hydration replenishing gel with thermal plankton cellular water. Paraben-free. Mineral oil-free

I was given a complimentary 5ml sample when I bought a full-sized moisturiser back in February.
With refreshing mint and citrus fruits combined with Jasmine and Musk scent, I also considered this as one of my favourite moisturier. I am glad that Biotherm moisturisers always work well for me and I like the brand very much and my best-loved moisturisers only come from this brand. Despite what my good friends said about the brand products being too mild for our age, I find that hydration is a very important factor to keep fine lines at bay and Biotherm does this best, with its thermal plankton cellular water.

Available in 2 delectable textures: Gel for normal to combination skin and cream for dry skin, mine is the gel texture which is also what I usually go for.

It hydrates my skin very well, leaving behind a smooth and almost silicon-feel effect. Some people may not like the silicon-feel effect, but I am fine with it. Perhaps I am delusional but I like the touch of soft-velvety skin. Looking at the ingredients, dimethicone is the 3rd ingredient which explains its silicon-feel effect. Some people do get breakouts from this ingredient so beware.

Does it really hydrates my skin up to 24hours? Well, I find it having almost the same performance as the past few Biotherm moisturisers I owned so personally, I did not think it made a major impact on my skin, in terms of its supposingly "powerful" hydration factor.

Key Ingredients :
Thermal Plankton Cellular Water - A nutrient-rich fluid responsible for preventing moisture loss from the skin's surface.

Mannose - A sugar extract responsible for stocking water in vegetal life and stimulating the regeneration cycle of the skin.

Review : A'Kins Lavender & Anthyllis Intensive Moisture Leave-In Conditioner

Product Description
Leave dry unruly hair behind with the help of A'kin Lavender & Anthyllis 24 Hour Intensive Moisture Leave-In Conditioner. A'kin’s rich natural leave in conditioner has a transformational blend of Amino acids anti-oxidants herbal extracts vitamins and richly nourishing Australian Jojoba and certified organic Avocado oils to help add moisture and strength and to help protect your hair from heat styling and environmental damage. The result is defined defrizzed dreamy hair.
Adds moisture, strength and helps protect your hair from heat styling and environmental damage. It will look smoother, shinier, curls defined and styles held longer.

Sulfate free, paraben free and phthalate free, I received 2 sachets as part of my A'kins hair products purchase which I brought it along for my Taiwan trip to be used for the first 2 days. Enough for just 4 usages across 2 days, its difficult for me to determine the exact efficacy of the product.
However, I am glad to know that all [Akin] products are free from sulfates, parabens, ethoxylated and petrochemical cleansers, propylene glycol, silicones, phthalates, mineral oils, DEA & artificial colours and there is no animal testing involved.
It has a natural scent, probably a mixture of the lavender and anthyllis but nothing I hate. I like using leave-in conditioner for convenience sake. This Akins conditioner does the job fine, helping to slightly de-frizz the hair making it look slightly better and less like a mad woman. The curls feel more defined though I have to admit that I am also using another scrunching spray at the same time I am using this.

Key beneficial ingredients of natural origin:
Panthenol pro-vitamin B5, nourishing organic avocado oil, jojoba oil, vitamin E, sandalwood oil, organic lavender oil, anthyllis (woundwort) flower extract

Ingredients
Aqua (purified Australian water*), behentrimonium methosulfate (from GMO free rapeseed) (and) cetearyl alcohol (botanical source), cetearyl alcohol (botanical source), lauryl glucoside (from coconut, palm & glucose), panthenol (pro Vit B5), glycerin (botanical source), hydrolyzed wheat protein (GMO free), glycerin (and) aqua (and) anthyllis vulneraria (woundwort) flower extract, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil (cold pressed Australian grown), persia gratissima (avocado) oil (certified organic cold pressed Australian grown), glyceryl laurate (botanical source), rice amino acids, potassium sorbate, sodium gluconate (from non-GMO corn), citric acid (botanical source), tocopheryl acetate (Vit E) (botanical source), lecithin (and) tocopherol (and) ascorbyl palmitate (and) hydrogenated palm glycerides citrate, fusanus spicatus wood (West Australian sandalwood) oil, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil (certified organic), syzygium aromaticum (clove) flower oil, linalool (from lavender oil), farnesol (from sandalwood). *BP 2000 standard

Review : Orly Purple

I am not a nail blogger and this is actually my first review on nail colours. I don't even know what color code is this, but since I have been buying nail polish lately, I thought I would just post some pictures to remind myself that I got this colour!

I hardly considered myself as a nail polish fanatic because I don't apply nail polish that regularly, except for special occasions like weddings or functions and occasionally on weekends.
I used to like pale, sweet colours but have since moved on to darker colours because I found them pretty sexy and attention-seeking. Thats not me of course but on my nails.

I got this from the airport during my work trip. I can't remember which airport now, but it was during my transit and I got nothing to do, so decided to shop around and chanced upon this.
It doesn't apply well as its thick and kinda sticky. The finishing is not smooth probably because of the shimmers? It chipped off easily as well. I need about 3 coats or more, in order to reach the opacity level that I want. Nothing much I like, except for the colour.

Orly is also one of the few brands that does not contain
Toluene - human reproductive and developmental toxin
Formaldehyde - a carcinogen and a common indoor air pollutant
Dibutyl Phthalate - affect hormone function

Update (5th April 2012)
The nail polish literally dries up. I bought this in Feb 2011 and has been keeping it in a box, with all the other nail polishes I owned, in a cool dry place.

Haul : Non-No Magazine with Marc Jacobs Pouch

Got it during the 20% sale last week at Kinokuniya for $15.20
The pouch is huge, I was abit stunned by its large size initially then decided that its quite worth the price. lol
Frankly speaking, the magazine contents are out of my league, too boring for me and I do not understand Japanese. At least for some Japanese magazines, I do enjoy looking at the visual ads as well as their kawaii dressing and interesting hairstyles which I am still trying to learn. But not Non-no. Its not for me.

Review : Mandom Beauty Barrier Repair Mask

Product Description
Facial moisturizing mask with Hyaluronic Acid. Fast absorbing essence works deep in the skin, leaving your skin supple and moist. Super soft fit sheet is gentle on a delicate skin. The sheet is cut to fit a woman's facial line, so it stays on well. Non stinging formula. No fragrance, no colorant, and no preservative. Patch tested and stinging tested.

This facial sheet mask was part of my April haul and I brought the only 2 sheets I owned to Taiwan. At 27ml, I got it at a steal at just $1.95 each. It contains penetrating hyaluronic acid (micro sized molecules) and regular hyaluronic acid to better penetrate into skin.

Designed with penetrating micro hyaluronic acid molecules that are 1/100th the size of regular molecules to better penetrate into skin for regular sized molecules to work their remarkable water retaining effects. 1g of hyaluronic acid is believed to be able to retain 6L of water.

The mask also contains an unique baby water lipid formula which is an emollient, water-retaining ingredient that forms a "barrier" on the surface of skin which helps to prevent dehydration from moisture loss. Additionally infused with highly penetrating micro molecules collagen to better allow absorption into skin.

It has a funny scent and is heavily soaked in essence. The eye flaps are quite tiny, to my standard which barely cover the top of my eyelids. When its pulled out of the packaging, the eyeflaps are actually attached to the whole mask so I tore the eyeflaps abit, so that I can have the option of opening or closing the eyeflaps as and when I am comfortable.

The initial flakiness on my skin are much better soothed and hydrated after each treatment over 2 days so at $1.95 and being made in Japan, its quite a value-for-money facial sheet mask.

Review : Shiseido Tsubaki Shining Shampoo and Conditioner

The red camellia flower is celebrated throughout Japan for its beauty and its extremely high quality oils, rich in oleic and linoleic acid, which are readily absorbed by skin and hair.
You will feel the improvement in texture and softness after one use.

I bought a set, including its hair mist in Japan but this review is only for its shampoo and conditioner as I still need some time to monitor the hair mist. I started using the 40ml size in Taiwan and then back to Singapore but its something which I really dislike because it does not cleanse that well.
I have thick, coarse and long hair, with damaged ends due to hair perming and colouring once a year. The floral scent is nice, the lathering is not bad but the cleansing power is poor. My hair gets oily and dirty by end of the day and I never experience that with other hair products I owned before. I thought it could be the humid Taiwan weather and did monitor it when I came back to Singapore. But nothing changes. My hair still stayed that yucky. Greasy and weighed down.

It did not detangle my hair too. Slightly softer and some shine but the cons of the greasy part took all the points away. This is seriously not for my hair and I absolutely hated it. Perhaps it may work better for those with fine hair or less oily hair.

Review : Etude House Moistfull Mist

Product Description
Etude House Moistfull Mist is portable tube supplies moisture to your skin throughout the day. It contains Baobab Tree Extracts to smooth and moisturize skin for a replenished look. It softens dull and rough skin, bringing you a brightened and translucent complexion.

This is my first time getting a facial mist from a Korean brand since its relatively cheap. And because its only 50ml, I am game to use it as I will probably finished it pretty quickly if I used it twice a day.
It lasted me for 1 month plus, in the end because I did not stick to using it everyday.
Thats because, I did not quite like it.

Ingredients :
【Cucumber Extracts】: Skin softener, astringent that soothes itchy skin. It has emollient and moisturizing properties.
【Baobab Tree Extracts】: contains antioxidants which are essential for protection against free radicals, maintenance of metabolic processes.
【Vitamin C Derivative】: Improves growth and repair of tissues. Increasing resistance to viral and bacterial infections.

Its almost like spraying perfume water on my face. Don't get me wrong, I am not biased and I do like the Moistfull mask as it has been a wonderful experience. I have also used their freshner, emulsion and peeling wash but only the mask scored high on my list.

The scent is essentially the same but somehow, it just not something I like. It seems to be quite an overdose of the fragrance and I dislike having so much of that on my face. I rather want the good stuff than something like perfume on the face which essentially serve no purposes.
It did not particularly help in drenching my skin with moisture as my flakiness is still apparrent after I used the mist. I know that some bloggers have better experiences with it and I am glad for them but this product is just not for my skin.

Review : Skin Food Salmon Brightening Eye Serum

Product Description
Highly concentrated water-based serum rich in omega-3 fatty acid, haloxyl, arbutin and vitamins to improve blood circulation and whiten skin for excellent radiant eyes.

I brought the only 2 sachets I had, to my recent Taiwan trip and used it within 2 days, day and night.
4 times of usage, to be exact. Since this is a serum, its supposed to be used before an eye cream but I skipped that and just used the serum alone.

The texture is lightweight and non-greasy. It glides easily on the undereye area and sinks in fast. There is no sticky after-feel and its water-based. 2 of my absolute favourites. There is no fishy smell, if thats your concern. Just a faint light scent, nothing too bad.

Since its only 4 usages, its difficult to determine the effectiveness but I do like the lightweight and non-greasy texture. No obvious brightening effects as far as I can see during those 2 days.

Review : Silky Girl Cosmetics Magic BB Cream

Product Description
Magic BB Cream is an all-in-one product that acts as a moisturizer, makeup base, concealer and foundation that comes with sun protection and lightening properties. Contains Hyaluronic Acid to prevent fine lines and Vitamin E Derivatives to fight against free radicals. With its Brightening Powder, skin will appear brighter through continuous use of the cream. The result – skin that looks like it’s been reborn. SPF 25 / PA++.

This Magic BB cream from Silky Girl cosmetics have been around since 2009 and I only got round to trying it recently, for the past 3 weeks.
Apparently, my mum bought it for her own use and I swipe off enough quantity for my 3 weeks usage in the morning as I love trying out new BB creams.

This SPF 25/PA++, oil-free and fragrance-free product comes in 2 shades and my mum got the 02 radiant shade. The colour, athough seems darker than what I usually used, is still able to match my skin tone.
Shade 01 inclines towards the yellowish category while shade 02 falls into the pinkish category so I would think that 02 is a more logical choice.

As shown on the pictures below, the shade 02 looks dark when I first dab it on the cotton bud but becomes pinkish after blending on my skin.

The texture is not exactly thin or fluid but just slightly thicker which made blending not that easy.
On my face, its not the easiest to blend in, its like there is an extra tinted layer on the skin. In fact, I did not think that it blend/sink into my skin that well. If my wet hands touched my face, it left some brownish flakes as though I have splashed some muddy water onto it.

Oil control isn't that impressive and my nose oiled up after about 3 to 4 hours especially obvious on my T-zone. It starts to look worse throughout the day. At the end of my work day which can be 12 hours later, the BB cream shows signs of oxidisation and my face looks darker.

It has medium coverage since the consistency is thicker but I felt none of the hydrating benefits since its touted to have HA as one of its ingredients.
At $13.90 to $15.90, its pretty affordable at Watsons or Guardians but sadly, its a miss for me.

Review : Crabtree and Evelyn Naturals Botanical Shampoo and Conditioner

Product Description
With nourishing Avocado, Olive and Basil. Formulated with moisturising and antioxidant-rich botanicals. No added parabens, phthalates or sodium lauryl sulfate

Funnily enough, this range is not reflected on Crabtree and Evelyn website. At 27ml each for both the shampoo and conditioner, it lasted through about 10 washes, with the conditioner being used up much faster before the 10 times is up.

The scent reminded me vaguely of Skin Food Brocolli Sun Cream and its not something I quite like. However, I am amazed at its detangling ability. For the first time in months, my comb actually managed to comb through all my hair. There is no tangled ends and no dry ends that tangled easily.

Soft and detangled, it remained thoughout the usage of both the shampoo and conditioner. It didn't work that well with other conditioners so I believe both shampoo and conditioner works beautifully to detangle my long and coarse hair. I like it, except for the scent.

Taiwan Hauls

I am back, after a 7days trip with my parents at Taiwan. Its actually my 3rd time in Taiwan but the first time for my parents. I got a bigger beauty loot this time round though my Korea loot was way over this and I did not take a photo of that. Its my greatest regret. lol.

Producing pictures of my loot served as a reminder to myself on the date I got the products at that certain price since I have a very poor memory. Ever since I left school, my memory is getting so much poorer. How I wish that the brain has the flexibility of the addition of RAM in it. :P

I am very happy to snag Naruko products over in Taipei Watsons. For those who are not aware, Naruko is a brand by Niu Er Lao Shi so I actually look forward to using the drugstore brand for its affordability.
Another new brand on my radar is the Lovemore Masks which are currently in Singapore as well, but I am not that sure which store is selling it.

Review : Missha Time Revolution White Cure Super Essential Toner and Super Radiance Lotion

Super Radiance Lotion Product Description
Whitening emulsion that clears the dull complexions and brightens pigmented, rough skin.
Contains highly concentrated whitening ingredients that creates a radiating skin by providing the moisture and nutrient needed for the damaged skin.
Balances the oil/moisture level of the face and applies smoothly on fatigued skin to maintain moisturized, radiating skin all day long.

Main Ingredients
1. DN-Aid™ : Individual DNA care ingredient created in collaboration with SERO Biologiques of France.
2. White-Cure : Melanin care ingredients of Madagascar island found by the Bayer Ltd that controls the melanin formation.
3. White Flower extract (20%) : Extract of 7 different flowers - Rose, Freesia, Edelweiss, Jasmine, Lily, Iris and Lotus

I was given this miniature set from a friend who helped to haul some Korea products for me. Initially I was not keen to try this out because I did not have much faith in Missha products.  I know I should not say that since I have hardly use their products but their brand just never attract me before. I know, I can be such a product snob at times, please bear with me.

Anyway, I was looking for a whitening product from my stash of skincare products and found this set. Just what I need so I thought I would give it a try and see how it fares.

Both the toner and lotion have a nice floral scent. The clear-colour toner, as expected, is watery and light, giving a refreshing feel to the skin when I used a cotton pad to swipe it all over my face.

The lotion is white with a milky consistency and can be quite sticky after application. The hydrating ability is average.

The toner last me for less than a week usage while the lotion was able to last me for about 2 weeks usage. I did not quite like the sticky sensation but since I am curious how it would fare, I still stick with it till the end. I did see my skin appear brighter and almost radiant with a lighter pigmentation spot after a week of usage but thereafter, I do not see any remarkable results on my skin despite using it for another week.

As you may know, whitening products need a longer time for its efficacy to show through, so perhaps a full size bottle may reap better results.

Review : DHC Coenzyme Q10 Mask

Product Description
Revitalizing Q10 Mask features a high concentration of firming coenzyme Q10, combined with moisturizing polyglutamic acid, to plump and smooth your complexion. Beneficial botanicals include willow extract, for aiding environmentally stressed skin, and rosewater, which helps tighten skin and imparts a natural relaxing scent

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), an antioxidant that occurs naturally within the body, helps your skin protect and defend itself from the visible signs of aging. Over time, your personal levels of CoQ10 diminish, resulting in a lessened ability to produce collagen, elastin, and other important dermal molecules—leaving skin susceptible to damaging free radicals.

I bought a box when I was in Japan, it consist of 4 sheets in it. Individually packed, the sheet is thin and just about moist. Not exactly soaked in essence. Hence, it dries up pretty fast, within 15mins. If I had it layered on for more than 15minutes, my skin would feel abit tight after removing the mask, probably because it had start to suck up the moisture from my skin instead.
And because its not that moist, it does not adhere to my skin that securely. I do not feel that my skin is thoroughly hydrated. It has a eye flap which can be quite soothing when you laid on the bed, resting with the mask on.
My skin did feel softer and smoother, seems almost firmer. But the effects are not lasting.

Each sheet contains 12ml essence enriched with Coenzyme Q10 essence.
Other benefits :
Gamma-Polyglutamic Acid : to strengthen natural defense of skin.
Hyaluronic Acid : to moisturize skin.
Aloe essence : repair skin and olive leaves essence soothes skin.
Rose Centifolia Flower Water : tightens skin and nourish your soul.

With that in mind, I was expecting more from the mask but it did not deliver as much as what the ingredients should. When I had 2 masks on 2 consecutive days, I developed some tiny red bumps on the right cheek which I thought perhaps it may be too rich, after a week of skipping the mask, the tiny red bumps were gone.

Ingredients :
Water, butylene glycol, diglycerin, salix alba (willow) bark extract, rosa centifolia flower water, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, phenoxyethanol, serine, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil PCA isostearate, sodium gamma-polyglutamate, ubiquinone, sodium hyaluronate, biotin, olea europaea (olive) leaf extract, cyanocobalamin.

Review : Crabtree and Evelyn Citron Honey and Coriander Hand Therapy

Product Description
Shea butter-rich moisturiser with Ceramides 3 and 6 II improves skin’s barrier function to reduce moisture loss for extraordinary softness and hydration. Contains myrrh extract, shown to condition nails, and Hyaluronic Acid, to hold moisture close to the skin. Apply after cleansing or anytime throughout the day.

Features :
Hydrates to improve softness
Helps condition nails and cuticles
Free of parabens, lauryl sulfates, mineral oil, and propylene glycol

I bought this at the Mall of America in Minneapolis in February, but I do not recall seeing it on Singapore shores or perhaps I may have missed it out. With vibrant lemon and fresh coriander with a touch of sweet honey as the fragrance, it seems refreshing enough for daily use at work. However I found the scent to be quite light and mild in my personal opinion.

There seems to be a similar design, but known as anti-aging hand remedy instead . Do not be confused with mine, as mine is the hand therapy version.

The white texture is light and falls in-between fluid to creamy, absorbs easily into the skin, without a greasy feel. However, I feel that it does nothing permanent to my dry hands, which I tend to wash often in my line of work. It made my hands and cuticles soft and smooth for a short while and then it dries out to nothing which made me re-apply all over again.

Although its not as bad as the Loccitane honey miel and lemon hand cream but its still something I would not re-purchase.

Key Ingredients:
Macademia Nut Oil (moisturises); Shea Butter (moisturises); Hyaluronic Acid (hydrates and softens skin); Myrrh Extract (helps condition nails and cuticles); Ceramides 3 and 6 II (improve moisture retention); Saccharide Isomerate (regulates moisture); Lemon, Coriander and Honey extracts

Review : Rene Furterer Acanthe Curl Enhancing Shampoo and Conditioner

Shampoo Product Description
Delicate cleansing is the first step in creating curly styles from sensuous waves to romantic ringlets. This curl enhancing shampoo provides body and structure to curly and wavy hair. Its milky texture hydrates and softens hair, leaving curls perfectly defined and frizz free. NO Silicones / NO Parabens / NO Sodium Chloride / pH 5.5

Benefits :
Natural Acanthus extract : structures and redesigns curls
Avocado oil : intensely hydrates and softens hair.

Conditioner Product Description
RENE FURTERER Acanthe Curl Enhancing Conditioner contains natural Acanthus extract (patent pending), a unique active ingredient that perfectly defines curls, and Avocado oil to nourish the hair. It provides indepth nutrition and structure to curly, wavy and frizzy hair. Its sheer texture leaves hair radiant and easy to detangle.
Curls are perfectly defined. Sodium-chloride-free, sulfate-free.

I bought the travel pack from Cosme-de which comprises the shampoo, conditioner and leave-in conditioner but I would be just reviewing the shampoo and conditioner today.
I did not quite like the scent as its too foul-smelling, especially the conditioner which has an even stronger scent. The texture of the shampoo contents are more fluid than the conditioner. Both are green in colour and the conditioner reminds me of algae. Gross.

However, both works well in harmony in maintaining the shape of the curls, leaving it soft yet natural.
Occassionally, my hair and scalp do itch (which I suspect that either I have not cleanse properly or that the shampoo did not do a great job in cleansing ) and I have to wash my hair again the following morning. ( I usually wash my hair at night )

In terms of frizziness, its still there, I didn't feel that both the shampoo and conditioner were particular helpful in reducing the frizz. In using the shampoo alone, I found my hair to be abit dry when its wet though it was still manageable after my hair have dried. After adding on the usage of the conditioner, my hair does feel softer but it doesn't detangle my hair that much, though it helps alittle.

Review : Nuxe Micellar Cleansing Water with 3 Roses and Green Tea

Product Description
In a single action, this alcohol and fragrance-free cleansing water eliminates all impurities from the face, eyes and lips. Its fresh texture and Floral Water fragrance remove all traces of make-up from your face, leaving it perfectly cleansed and toned. The core of active principles with 3 Roses (Red, Black and White) soothes and softens your skin. Rose Water tones and Green Tea Extract has anti-oxidizing properties. Without added paraben or phenoxyethanol.

I bought this cleansing water, after redeeming a $20 voucher from AMICA magazine last year. It was a good chance for me to try out this brand as a colleague of mine have been raving about Nuxe for months which of course have made me much tempted.

At first, I wasn't too overly impressed with this cleansing water because the smell is really off. I presume its the combination of the rose and green tea scents with rose as the predominant of the 2. I seriously wasn't impressed with a rose having such a strong choking scent. I guess I have been pampered by Crabtree and Evelyn floral fragrance and thought all roses should have a nice floral scent. Thankfully it was just a cleansing water which meant I get to rinse this off pretty quickly too.

The rose, the queen of flowers, is delicate, fragile and endowed with a subtle fragrance. Associated with well-being and sensuality, the rose has been a beauty product for centuries and is renowned for its softening, moisturizing and toning properties.

Recommended for all skin types including sensitive skin,  it contains 3 types of roses
White Rose : soften, soothe and detoxify skin.
Black Rose : soothe, soften and detoxify skin.
Red Rose extract : softening and astringent agent

However, I was soon won over by its effective cleansing power. Its better than an average cleansing water though not on the top on my list. I needed 1.5 cotton pads to effectively cleanse my face make-up gunk (excluding eye make-up) but it doesn't perform well on my eyeliner though it did remove my non waterproof mascara. I suspect it may fail on waterproof mascara test though. In the end, a Q-tip works better to remove my eyeliner.

Review : Dermalogica Conditioning Body Wash

Dermalogica Conditioning Body Wash 16 oz/473 ml

Product Description
A soap-free skin conditioning body cleanser with botanical extracts and essential oils. The soothingly fragrant essential oils of Sandalwood, Lavender, Orange and Clary Sage moisturize the skin, leaving it smooth and conditioned. Contains no artifical fragrances or colours.

This is yet another complimentary sachet when I ordered my dermalogica products. I had 2 sachets which allowed me 2 usages to try it out.

Features :
Naturally-foaming Quillaja Saponaria Extract provides soap-free cleansing.
Cleanses thouroughly without stripping the skin's natural moisture balance.
Purifying essential oils of Tea Tree, Lemon, Eucalyptus and Rosemary invigorate the skin.
Panthenol and essential oils of Sandalwood and Lavender help to condition the skin.

I am starting to get abit disappointed with their bodycare products because its just not as awesome as the rest of the skincare products I am using from Dermalogica.

There was not much foam and hence I tend to use more than what I normally would. It performs like a mediocre body wash easily available from any drugstore. It also left my skin feeling abit dry.

The only saving grace is probably its scent though I much prefer its exfoliating wash if I have to choose the scent I like, between both.

It scores 4.1 from Makeupalley. Just a note that it does contain Sodium Laureth Sulfate and some parabens.

Review : Dermalogica Exfoliating Body Scrub

Product Description
Buff away dulling surface debris with this creamy, lightly foaming body scrub. Pulverized Olive, Fig and Date seeds, plus skin-softening Rice Bran and Papaya Enzymes, slough off impurities, dramatically smoothing the skin and stimulating cell renewal. (Just the thing for rough elbows, knees and the back of the arms!) Refreshing essential oils of Lavender, Orange, Sandalwood and Rosemary revitalize the body and awaken the senses, wild Green Tea soothes the skin

Before I plopped down US$33 for a body scrub, I need to try it first, to justify the cost. So what better way but to request for some samples during my Dermalogica purchased order? Since I am so in love with most of their face products, I thought I should move on to their body products.

With their 2 sachets, it lasted me for only 2 usages since I used quite alot from top to toe.

I love the scent of the essential oils in this creamy scrub. Within the creamy texture, lies its fine granules but I found it to be too scratchy and abrasive on the skin, leaving some painful feeling after the scrub. Could it be because I used too much strength? However, my skin did feel smooth and soft after each scrub.
